 MATCHING1 was held under the company Matching in 2009 as the brand’s inaugural exhibition. The concept centered on the idea of “matching”—the deliberate pairing of materials, forms, and functions to create cohesive design outcomes. The exhibition was chosen as a starting point to define Matching’s philosophy, emphasizing balance, restraint, and thoughtful relationships within design.

The exhibition focused on precise construction, clean detailing, and intentional pairings. Design techniques included careful proportioning, modular arrangements, and refined joinery that highlighted the dialogue between elements.
